Couldn’t be more different from my blog of yesterday. This is a simple description of the creation of A PLACE TO GROW, where children can learn with delight. Reading it makes me happy, and gives me hope.
These are the ideas we were taught when I trained to be a teacher in the 80s at Goldsmiths’. Sadly, by that time Mrs T and the Great British Dream had put the dampers on the notion that education was for anything but job training. I got out, no jobs, but I salute all those dedicated teachers in the East End who struggled against all the odds to bring a bit of real education to the deprived kids of Bow and Peckham.
